Arthur Strachan Real Estate Agency was established in approximately 1960 by Arthur Strachan himself, who was a well known identity of Lae and running a customs clearance agency, and saw the need for a real estate agency. It is believed that this was the first real estate agency to be established in Lae, and it was successfully run by Arthur Strachan until 1976, when the business was taken over by Bruce & Faye Duffield, who are still involved in the operation of the business, along with two of their long-serving Papua New Guinean staff members, who are also shareholders in the business.

Since taking over the business in 1976, the current owners have concentrated on the core business of serving the real estate industry in Lae by providing services in property management, sales, valuation, auctions and property development. All of these services are available to our clients within the Lae area and valuations and auctions are also carried out in other centres throughout Papua New Guinea.

The business, at the time of takeover, in 1976 was run from a small rented office in James Arcade on 4th Street in Lae and has since moved to the current location in it's own premises, in 6th Street, opposite the Westpac Bank. Arthur Strachan offers the continuity of service through long-term staff under the current management of Bruce Duffield, who has been with the business since 1976, and also Oswald Duncan, the Property Manager and Nanice Bob, the Chief Accounts Clerk who have both worked with Arthur Strachan for over 20 years.
